Frequently Asked Questions
+ Where are you located? Hours?
At this time all counselling sessions will be held virtually. Hours are weekdays between 8:00 and 9:00 pm and weekends. There are some available time slots during weekdays. Please inquire if that is your primary availability.
+ What is the fee?
Sessions are $170. I do offer sliding scale rates with limited availability.
+ Do you take insurance?
If you have insurance for therapy, make sure that it covers registered Social Workers. It will be up to you to make the claim.
+ What if I have to cancel?
Just give me 24 hours notice and you will be fully reimbursed, otherwise you will be charged the full fee of the session.
+ How long are sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes long.
+ How do I set up initial appointment?
Email me.
+ Do you do phone or Zoom counselling?
At this time, it's all I do! See above.
+ Do you see children? Couples? Families?
I predominantly work with individuals. In my work there have been circumstances where a person in the clients life enters the therapeutic space for a few sessions in order to further the work of the individual and I will continue to do this as needed. We can discuss this.
+ Do you see people who identify as LGBTQ?
Absolutely.
+ I’m not depressed. I just have a horrible boss. Is it cool if I still come to therapy?
Sure you can. Therapy isn’t always crisis driven. In fact, much of the actual work and progress takes place when people aren’t in crisis mode.
+ You’re not going to ask about my childhood, are you?
You know you’re talking about therapy right? We don’t have to spend a great deal of time on your childhood, but it wouldn’t be fair to you if I ignored this important piece of how you became you.
+ So what happens if I see you in public? You aren’t going to talk to me are you?
No way! If you want to approach me (and whomever I might be with) then you are welcome, but I am bound by the limits of confidentiality so I won’t ever approach you, even if you are on your own.
+ Social Workers don’t do therapy do they?
Well I’m here to tell you that we actually do! Therapy with a Social Worker is more rooted in social justice, and a strengths based perspective. I would be happy to discuss this should you have further questions about it.
